Paul Scott, Ph.D.
Dr. Paul Scott owns his own psychological consulting company and directs its efforts to enhance the success of a wide variety of organizations including non-profits, educational institutions, municipalities, communities, arts as well as corporations. Common to these entities is the desire to increase the effectiveness of their leadership and/or governance toward the end of maximizing achievement of their business or organizational objectives. As a corporate psychologist, Dr. Scott brings to his clients counsel based upon his understanding of human behavior and adult learning in order to help them achieve results in a manner consistent with their values and culture. Dr. Scott began his career in corporate psychology when he joined RHR International in 1982, a company focusing on providing consultation in leadership, management and governance to major corporations. Originally based in Houston, Dr. Scott’s initial consulting experiences were with newspapers, radio, cable television, direct marketing, manufacturing, electronics, energy development and manufacturing. Moving to the Dallas office in 1984, he began a period of focused consultation to the energy industry. He has had extensive experience with electric utilities, assuming responsibility for account managing several of RHR’s largest consulting programs with energy companies. He has an in-depth understanding of issues involved in energy generation, distribution, transmission and retailing, power trading and marketing and both international and domestic power project development. He assisted clients in significant transformations including explosive growth, mergers and acquisitions, moving from regulated activity to free market competition and evolving through different stages of organizational development. His practice with RHR included pro bono engagements with non-profit, community-based human service organizations. He is skilled in the management of organizational change, the assessment, deployment and development of executive talent, the providing of caring counsel to boards and leaders and building of healthy organizations. Prior to joining RHR International, Dr. Scott served as Executive Director of the Dallas County Mental Health and Mental Retardation Center. Earlier in his career he provided program development consultation to a variety of child, adolescent and family mental health service organizations. Dr. Scott received his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The Ohio State University in 1966. He then attended The University of Texas at Austin where he was awarded a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology in 1968 and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology in 1972. He served as President of the founding Board of Directors of the Center for Non-Profit Management and has participated in a variety of community and church activities. Current community activities include serving as a member and Chair of the Board of Interfaith Housing Coalition, member and Chair of the Board of the Association of Persons Afflicted by Addictions and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce Foundation. |
